Captain Chris Britton from Grey Ghost Charters in Stuart Florida breaks down the second half of August fishing in South Florida. And with September 1st being here, that means one thing – snook season is here! Remember your slot sizes (28″-32″ total length) for those keepers!

The snook bite has been really good throughout all times of the day – midday, night, early mornings. Chris says make sure to check around the bridges and pilings. Both live bait fishing with croaker or bunker (especially midday) and the artificial bite with the Hogy Lure paddle tails and Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow have been lethal at night. Still waiting on the mullet run to hit full speed but shouldn’t be much longer with nearby reports of.

Still some good Tarpon to be had inshore but you’re going to have to pick through the mass of jacks to get to them.

Offshore the snapper and sailfish bite has remained red hot! Seems like the new sailfish peak is the summer, with these past few months being insane good. Also, there’s been some good dolphin on the inside pushing in the flying fish. The zone is 100-120 foot of water.
