The 15th Annual Yellowtail shootout has concluded, safe to say another successful year is in the books! Fishing was tough this year but underneath all the wind and chop, our anglers managed to find some home guards to put them on the podium. Many boats experienced the rough ride home from the islands and the slow fishing out west, but the winning fish came from 12 hours of hard fishing in our local waters.
Our anglers dropped lines in the water at 5 am on Saturday, June 26th. With the Bluefin close and biting, we were expecting to see more tuna than yellowtail for this year’s Biggest Fish Jackpot. All boats were humbled to find that the Bluefin were boiling on the surface, but not eating like they were in the weeks leading up to the tournament. This year, the Biggest Fish caught in the tournament was a toad 46 pound yellowtail.
The return of the Yellowtail Shootout saw 68 boats and 253 anglers registered. Thanks to all our anglers and great sponsors who had the stage filled with great prizes and raffle items. It really was a win-win for everyone involved and we are grateful for all of the support on all levels!
