If you were to look at a Southern California Bluefin Fisherman’s tackle arsenal this summer, there is a good chance that you will find that they have a collection of spreader bars they’ve been fishing with. It has quickly become one of the most effective search baits that we use fishing for these Pacific Bluefin Tuna, and they’re deadly under the right conditions.

While our fishery continues to evolve year after year, the baits that we use to target our beloved Bluefin Tuna become more specialized. As spreader bars gained immense popularity in our fishery just a few years ago, we found ourselves fishing mainly center bars that were designed on the East Coast and perhaps not entirely suited for our West Coast Bluefin. Enter Stealth Offshore Co. These local boys have designed a full line of spreader bars crafted to fit the needs of the Southern California Tuna fisherman.

Stealth Offshore’s line of fully rigged spreader bars are designed to handle school sized Tuna, all the way up through super-cows. Their bars are available in both Port and Starboard directional, as well as Centered. The bars are offered in six different color patterns and pre-rigged with 300-pound mono and Stainless-Steel hardware built to handle big Bluefin. All of Stealth Offshore’s products are backed by a 5-year guarantee.

The “Tanner Bank 3-Pack” is the perfect tool for any angler who is looking to drag a full spread behind their boat. This pack consists of a Port, Center, and Starboard bar which allows you to troll all three at the same time without having to worry about lines crossing over one another. The directional bars will run outside of your propwash in clean water, and by covering more area behind your boat you increase your chances of fish finding your baits.

We found that when fishing the directional bars, the more line that we let out the more scoped out the bars would run, creating a wider spread behind the boat. The bars were most effective on relatively calmer days but ran well even with winds up to 15 miles per hour.

Everybody has a color and stinger preference, and we are no different. Our favorites were Anchovy, Red Crab, and Purple, but Stealth Offshore allows you to mix and match their 3-Pack so that you can choose the colors that you are most confident in. The bars also come with a replaceable stinger, allowing you to customize it exactly to your liking should you choose to swap it out for your favorite jig.

Our team was extremely stoked on the entire line of these spreader bars. From the quality of the materials, to the ease of modification and wide range of color patterns, we are confident that they will put Bluefin in your boat.
