Gary Graham, BD’s Baja Editor and a Baja representative for the International Game Fish Association just confirmed that the 427-pound yellowfin tuna caught on September 28th by Guy Yocom has been approved as the new world record for the species. Yocom applied for the world record after catching the 193.68 kg (427-pound) yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) while fishing aboard his boat, El Suertudo, off the coast of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
