Feast Billfish CVL Thanksgiving November has been a fantastic month of fishing. A cold front blew though during 2018 ILLTA Tournament which caused a day of very choppy waters, but the sea settled back down thereafter. Canada Takes Gold in Inaugural PanAmerican Roosterfish Tournament! With all the excitement of a World Cup soccer match, 37 anglers from Canada, the United States, Mexico, Panama, and Costa Rica descended on the Golfo Dulce for the first PanAmerican Roosterfish Tournament. The event was hosted by the PanAmerican Delegation, USA Angling, and FECOP, the Costa Rican representative in the PanAmerican Delegation. The Shimano Saragosa combined with their new OCEA PLUGGER Flex Limited rod represents one of their newer mid-weight spinning offerings. The 2018 No Sancocho Sailfish Shootout was held November 8-10th at Casa Vieja Lodge. This is the annual in-house tournament presented by Casa Vieja Lodge which makes you to put your money where your mouth is, as each Sancocho, or missed bite, results in a $20 donation to charity. Every Sanchoco or “missed bite” equals $20 to local charities! Anglers choose the combination of bait and fly casting that they think will earn the most points. Ethan Mayes, and eight grader from San Diego, has recently achieved “Master Ocean Angler” status in the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (CDFW) California Fishing Passport program.  Upon receiving a fishing rod as a gift when he was eight, Ethan began fishing on the piers of Southern California, where he caught many of his varying species.
