The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) reminds anglers and divers that Jan. 31, 2017 is the due date for turning in steelhead, sturgeon, abalone and north coast salmon report card data. Information collected from sport fishing report cards provides CDFW biologists with important data necessary to monitor and manage California’s diverse recreational fisheries, including preparing recommendations for sport fishing seasons and limits that allow for sustainable levels of take. A letter from the CCA The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council and staff are to be commended for proposing innovative measures for red snapper management in the Atlantic. Under the current restraints on this fishery, without a fresh look at management options it is unlikely a season for red snapper would open in the foreseeable future. We appreciate their efforts and the opportunity to comment on the scoping phase of Amendment 43. Hunter Bland and Conner Young of the University of Florida Bass Fishing Team, get ejected from their boat while running approx. 57 mph. This was due to a steering system part failure. Timing Tides is a Fly fishing photoblog run by two cousins, Federico and Christopher Hampl. They are taking every opportunity to explore some of the exotic and new fisheries in Costa Rica, that are not very well known in the fly fishing community. “We were both born and raised in Costa Rica and have always traveled around the country looking for exciting fish to catch.” said Chris.
