BRP announced today Evinrude angler Cory Johnston won the northern division of the Costa Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Series. The tournament, held on Oneida Lake in New York, took place August 18th through the 20th, 2016. Johnston, a Cavan, Ontario-based angler, landed a total of 15 fish for a 50-pounds, 4 ounces total weight that earned him $32,778 and a new Ranger Z518. In addition to winning the tournament, Johnston also received his third northern division Strike King Angler of the Year title. The 2016 Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge will be angling for a good cause in San Diego with the annual three-day tuna fishing tournament event benefiting Make-A-Wish® San Diego again this year. This event is the largest tuna fishing tournament in the continental U.S., raising over $3.3 million to grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions in our community. As many of you may remember, in 2014, Governor Brown Jr. signed Senate Bill 941 into law. The bill was to promote boating safety education for California boat operators. The law will be implemented under the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW). Operator Cards (CVOC) will be issued to those persons who provide proof that a vessel operator examination has been passed by the individual.
