My name is Victor Charles Porter but I have gone by Charles my whole life. I was born in Key West and raised in Islamorada with an absolute obsession for fishing and diving. I mostly grew up offshore fishing because my dad is a private sportfishing boat captain, but also did some backcountry fishing with my grandfather who owned a local tackle shop and ran charters. I am currently a student at Florida Gulf Coast University located in Estero, Fl. I recently bought my first boat, a Gheenoe Classic, which is a very popular boat for short range shallow water trips and known for its small size and nimbleness. We do big things in these boats though and exploring the northern Everglades is our mission. Our typical targets are redfish, snook, tarpon and sometimes the occasional tripletail or sheepshead. I mainly target fish with artificial lures but fly fishing is definitely my passion. There is just something about tying feathers to hooks and making fish eat it that I love. I am graduating soon from FGCU with a Bachelors degree in Communication and plan to work on offshore boats in South Florida and the Bahamas and hope to run my own charter business one day.
