Eric Newman grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana where he fostered his passion for the ocean and all things fishing. At a young age he started fishing trout and redfish until he had the opportunity to start fishing the prolific waters offshore Southwest Louisiana. His reputation for working hard as a mate and embracing the “grunt work” quickly made him a regular on the tournament fishing circuit. His love of the ocean landed him a job as the offshore fisheries captain for the Louisiana Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, which he currently holds. Eric plays an integral role in the Departments tagging, sampling and stock assessment efforts. He brings with him over 20 years of experience and is a wealth of knowledge regarding the Gulf.
